Description
Jeevan Pramaan β Digital Life Certificate for Pensioners
Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric-enabled digital service for pensioners, launched by the Government of India. It allows pensioners of the Central Government, State Governments, and other government bodies to generate a Digital Life Certificate (DLC) using Aadhaar-based biometric authentication, eliminating the need for physical presence at pension disbursing offices.
What is Jeevan Pramaan?
Jeevan Pramaan is an Aadhaar-linked Digital Life Certificate system that enables government pensioners to submit their life certificate digitally. The certificate is generated using a secure biometric authentication process and is automatically shared with the Pension Disbursing Agency (PDA), such as banks or post offices. This initiative ensures seamless pension disbursement without requiring senior citizens to visit offices every year.
Why Jeevan Pramaan Was Introduced
Traditionally, pensioners were required to physically appear before the PDA or submit a manually signed life certificate from their previous employer. This process caused significant inconvenience, especially for elderly, ill, or relocated pensioners.
The Jeevan Pramaan scheme was implemented to resolve these challenges by:
- Removing the need for in-person verification.
- Reducing travel and logistical issues.
- Making the process faster, more secure, and user-friendly.
Key Benefits of Jeevan Pramaan Digital Life Certificate
- β Generate from Anywhere: Pensioners can generate the life certificate from home or any location with internet access and a biometric device.
- β No Physical Visit Needed: No need to visit the bank or pension office for life certificate submission.
- β Real-time Updates: Pensioners receive automatic SMS alerts at every stage of the DLC process.
- β Direct Submission to PDA: The certificate is automatically sent to the pension disbursing authority.
- β Secure and Fast: Aadhaar-based biometric verification ensures accuracy and security.
